is AWESOMENESS in its purest form :D After examness is really the best.
Had outings with girlfrens, main masak-masak, watch movie into the wee hours of the night, yada yada yada.. very very nice..
And i have laughed so much within these few days that it totally eradicated all the negative built up energy caused by the dreadful e.. [ which includes the cinema episode (6 for 7) and the roomie came back episode ]
I guess there is still hope for me :P i see glimpses of my old self again.
The only thing that is not pretty is dat galfrens are leaving for kl soon!! I will only be able to see all of them when i am back after nlds.. ooooo kl is going to be fun fun fun :D
PS : i miss my roomie la....

OLD-er
On a trip out to JP not so very long ago, my girlfrens and I realised something. Something that hit me by surprise.
Ok background info :
We met a junior who is super energetic, spirited and basically just radiating with the glow of after examness ( though she glows of excitement practically all the time). She was basically jumping up and down ( in an excited way, not literally) telling us something . The conversation lasted like half a minute and she was gone off to continue what she was doing.( imagine talking to a very excited person and woosh she was gone.. very fast paced..) The moment she left, girlfriends said, "omg that reminds me of you.. when you were a freshie." EVERYONE agreed. Then it struck me that I have not felt that way in a long long while.
OMG have i lost all my energy? my enthusiasm? have i become an old sedate person??? it really made me wonder.. it would be nice to say that its because i have matured. (though matured does not necessarily mean dull :s) Where have all my energy gone? Its like the sun sucked it off me or something.
My first year was filled with stuff to do, really crazy, meetings from end to end.. I have no idea how i survived. Year 2 is more relaxed with less stuff to do.. Is it possible that i need to have lots of stuff to do to ensure that i am constantly on the go? to keep the adrenaline rushing and the energy flowing? Hmm something to ponder upon..
But being an economics person, (ok random, just wanna remind everyone i am an economics major .. mengada ) i guess i cannot discount off the fact that exams have been running for a while now.. its probably that its cos of this period that i feel lifeless , mundane and bored..
I am pretty sure NLDS is going to be an energy booster for me.. plus awesome time spent with my frens post exams..
hmm.. maybe there is still hope for me ..

countdown- 4 days
obviously to the end of this torturous affair - that starts with a huge E.. i've had 2 days of blissfully sinful slack-ish days..but the fear is here again. the fear that causes the adrenaline to run and the heart to pump fast.. gah.. its probs and stats ONE.. it should be relatively EASY!! hallo its supposed to built up our confidence for probs and stats TWO. not scare us off and make us feel like hiding under a well :s
on a happier note, after exams plans :
1. lepak with frens
2. shopping
3. watch movie - New moon!!!
4. AIESEC work
5. catching up with frens
6. NLDS!!
7. KL :D
to a certain extent i feel like i don't really care anymore as long as its over. but on the other hand its bloody 4 aus. MENcelakaKAN!!
PS : studying mathematics and economics really has increased the probability that I have multiple personality disorder. I find myself studying econs with maths methods and maths with econs methods.. patutla i kantoi mantoi all the time :s

countdown - one month and 4 days
to.......... FINALS! shitty..
i have been very inefficient this sem. Really. feel free to slap this lazy person to remind her that finals is coming in 4 freaking weeks and she still has 2 projects to submit. Plus her aiesec responsibilities.
argh i am feeling very very very very very small at the moment. as if i am not capable of anything good. gah.. ke-pekchik-an.
with my screwed up sleeping cycle, i am headed for doom-nation :O
sila bangun dari ke-inefficiency-an anda and start to kick ass..
(ok la i have been pretty hardworking for the last two weeks catching up with all my lectures for midterm. but after midterms, i need to be reminded that finals is also coming!!!! wake up carmen -smacks!!-)

of love. and den of frustration fun
For the love part,
I attended my cousin's wedding yesterday. And really it was a nice one. You can clearly tell my cousin was in love with his wife as his wife is to him. Simple wedding but rather touching i would say. And my cousin was grinning practically the whole time :) Happiness in the air is rather contagious and emphasized with spending time with the family. It was really good distraction from the academic 'hell' i had going on in my head due to linear.
For the frustration fun part,
Of course , back to real world the moment i am back in school ( of course i was sneaking looks at my notes during the wedding whenever i can). Deciding that suffering personally was too hard to bear me and roomate decided to crash study with out fellow malayian school mates. And i will tell you that was really one good decision. my confused mind was enlighten numerous times and my darkened scowl was brightened by random laughter of craziness. Thank god for awesome support system or really school WILL be a living hell with spawns of evil like linear algebra ( ok random)and i found out my hair styling skills may just be my mattress if i fall from uni academic level due to math (ok that sentence do not really makes sense)- just trying to be poetic.
Doomsday is in 3 hours. Scared and have a shitty feeling that i may just not score a single mark. But having assured that i can still go into hair styling ( random. thanks model gwo shiou) if i fail, i am gonna continue chiong-ing.

of sun burns, sore legs and FUN with EB in ubin
It was an amazing day. Really awesome. Why ??
Cos i spent it with my beautifully crazily workholic-ly awesome EB team. Of course as usual in AIESEC,you do things that you never normally do in real life. So what we did. We went to Pulau Ubin and cycled around the island. Under the scouring hot sun. Walked around the island under the sun. Cycle uphill and cruised down hill ( which was really really fun)
I loved spending time with this group of amazing ppl. This ppl totally made the hideous sunburn that i have ( cousin wedding next next week! my back damn ugly la!!) and the aching thighs i have now WORTH IT!! and i have to admit, cycling was really fun.
Den we went to lau pa sat to meet moligle (monica , lizard, eagle :P) to have dinner. i had porridge of spicy chicken. And i have to admit i have never had that before.. very interesting. and some heart to heart sharing of NON FAT ( F**king AIESEC talk) stuff just chilling by the singapore river.... it was really nice .. really :)
There was actually a pact that we are not going to open our emails tonight. But me being me, well i did.. And i have tonnes of work to do now. and preparations for home studying to do.. but with 3 hours of sleep yesterday and nearly 6 hours of cycling, my eyelids and shutting close even with my commands to them to remain open . But i guess eyelids are only aesthetic, my brain is totally blocked too!! ARGH i need to get my work done! Wake up carmen!!
Tomorrow : KL!!
woo hoo!!

first real emcee-ing experience in ntu
:) so yesterday was the NTU MAF celebrations 2009 of which i was a part of. EMCEE :) i have always wanted to try my hands at emceeing in NTU. So i guess it came. My emcee partner, Jia Wei couldn't be a better person for me to work with. I think we had the chemistry la..
I have no idea how I did as the event kinda rolled into one as the night goes on ( i realised it can be rather tiring to be on the stage constantly for 3 hours plus in HEELS!!) but i had a great time doing it..
so what is up next ??
Some aiesec work, study study study study (x100000000 million thousand gazillion times (positive reinforcement)), some aiesec work, study study study, pulau ubin and then head home!! excited nak balik!

return from the emo. and jumpstart
ok so last weekend was jumpstart :) and i LOVED it! omg the energy was awesome, the chair inspiring and the new members even more inspiring. really amazing 2 days.. noone even complained bout the accomodation :) i knew we were considering and worrying too much. it reminded me once again why i am here in aiesec. Why my life revolves around aiesec. Because it is MY choice to make something out of my uni life. something amazing. as for dear aiesecers of ntu, i really hope it impacted u they way jumpstart this year impacted me.
(ps : crystal joyee lee, i am freaking proud of u gal!)
as for return from the emo. I was awakened by one phrase by the oh mighty celine ( i really think she is awesome, never fails to inspire me ) . Simple phrase .. 'why would you stop trying?'
Why should i? emo means i am tired of trying. but why should i? ( when come to think of it i have not even REALLY tried ) that phrase for some matter really inspired me.
Owh, just came back from my first ever company meeting in Singapore :) To a certain extent it was fun. owh i wanna go for more !! i think i am falling in love with AIESEC :) no i am in love with AIESEC. I am just getting more deeply in love with AIESEC from one moment to another that it is pretty crazy. love eb too ( awesome eb :D )
note to self : need to fall in love with my books too .. fast!!

hari ini
its been a pretty emo-istic week for me. as school drags (accelerates actually ) by, work adds on, i suddenly realise how behind i was, hence emo.
I know its not doing anything to improve the situation but nak buat apa.. mmg feeling emo-ish pun.
In an effort to do a lil of chilling and to celebrate me and sok yee's very belated bday my awesome galfrens arranged for a night out at clarke quay. As usual we don;t get to do wat we planned due to time constraints, we had dinner at billy bombers, walked around for like 30minutes and baliked. (salahkanlah the public transport who has no mercy whatsoever for humble citizens of pulau ntu)
To a certain extent it was relaxing purely cos of the company. i think i really have found MY galfrens who i enjoy being with. no pressure of pretense (somehow this word does not look right), just pure acceptance. sukala saya.
den we went back and continue chilling. and we danced :P some aiesec, some msa , some random, some very korean dances. that was uplifting and now i guess i feel a lil better :)
Tomorrow is jumpstart!!! argh i think i am feeling more excited bout jumpstart this year than the last.. i cannot wait to meet everyone. and somehow i have this gut feeling its gonna be f***ing excellent!!! tak sabar la pulak :)

argh!! school is here~
before the ranting begins, let me just say - three cheers and three cheers for foc odyssey 2009!!
Really it was one awesome selfless camp by the MSA seniors for the freshies. The enthusiam, the sleep and health sacrifices and many many other unmentionables were made for this camp. Purely to give back to our fellow Malaysians. It does make one smile when you think about the why the camp is organised :) Its really Malaysian!
I am moved into my room FINALLY! and its all thanks to my fellow Malaysians who helped me move my humongous load of stuff that i call necessities to my room... Really paiseh.. (thank goodness for the vast network of my girlfrens and also the huge heart and muscles of my fellow Malaysians :P) The room is pretty good(actually its damn nice renovated!) albeit a little hot, but the toilet sucks!!(for now at least till the renovations are officially done)
I am trying really hard to get back into the mood of school and stuff.. its pretty hard seeing that we have all had a loooooooooong 3 and a half months holiday.. Eg : i have no idea where to stream my shows from after not doing so for just about 3 months plus!
Argh its at times like this that i miss Hanoi the most.. But i guess its time for reality to kick in.. Wake up Carmen time to work hard again..
Next challenge.. Recruitment.. Takut sia!!! Kan Cheong!!!
PS : i miss home sikit sikit
PPS: i miss my family sikit sikit
PPPS : i miss baby sikit sikit

final leg of my adventurous summer
Taiwan was awesome! the ppl is so nice, the shopping is addictive and the place just pure awesomeness.
The conference was really cool where you get to meet ppl from all over and just connect. The people in Taiwan are the friendliest i have met to date.
School is going to start soon. And i am not really looking forward to school.. after what i have seen and experienced and enjoyed in the past 3 and a half months or so, school is going to be dull and boring. Lucky me i still have awesome friends and aiesec.
Work work work for now!
Note : i cannot believe Yasmin Ahmad passed away just like that. It is too sudden and a GREAT loss to the Malaysian art scene. RIP Yasmin Ahmad

last night in vietnam
i have been around a lot.. been to sapa which i really really love. with a person that i have learned to love!! i miss u trang, my soul mate! den fly down south for national conference in vung tau, a beautiful beach in the south of vietnam.
natco brought together awesome individuals with spirit so high and energy so powerful it can light a whole city. it inspired many including myself. gave me a sense on why i am an aiesecer.and wat we are doing to impact the world. met ppl who had to go through so much hardships including family rejections to just contribute to aiesec. i saw aiesec hanoi members stand up and expressing their views. they grew so much in 5 days. i saw ppl who left their countries to come to vietnam to contribute to aiesec in vietnam, succeeded, and fell in love with the ppl here. natco is a gentle reminder on what i am doing when i started my term to impact lives. natco again reminded me that we will achieve our 245 exchanges.
Vietnam has been awesome. it gave me so much. from aiesec experience to life experience. i met live long frens i will always cherish from all around the world. i fell in love with travelling. and definitely reassured me that the world is my oyster.
Thank you everyone in aiesec from hanoi be it lc hanoi or baby lc ftu hanoi.. u guys enriched my life, and my aiesec experience. i love everyone of u ! and i love hanoi!
i drove my own experience by taking up the ceedership in hanoi. aiesecers around the world, stay true to our essence and shine!
Thank you vietnam, thank you aiesec hanoi, thank you aiesec ftu hanoi, thank you aiesec vietnam.
goodbye vietnam and will return soon!

hanoi - day 28
Woke up today feeling so excited.. cos tonight i am training off to sapa.. called yen so tat we can meet up and just chill :P went to hoan kiem lake in search of the cheong sam-ish top i was looking for in silk village.. but we had lunch before tat and we had bread with beef stew.. sounds normal huh? you think ,.. its damn awesome la!! super super nice.. actually had it before.. but as yen puts it,i can have it every single day no problem.. after lunch, went hunting.. and guess wat??? i found wat i want.. after visiting SO many shops WITHOUT wat i want ( all asking me to sew it to fit) and visiting those WITH but overpricing the item like crazy, i found a shop with wat i want , fits me and well, is reasonable.. kudos to awesome yen for bargaining it down to the price tat i tot was reasonable.. so happy sia :) i like i like.. always wanted a cheongsam-ish top.. and i got it.. la la la..
Den yen brought me to eat glass noodles!! nice nice nice.. its dry without soup (this is the first time ever in history of my life tat i had noodles WITHOUT soup in Vietnam.. ) it was also really cheap.. tat makes it even better!
Den went back, and Trang my soulmate came and whisked me to her home.. now blogging at her place on her shiny white vaio ( argh i like!!). its raining outside.. and as time goes on, my heart beats faster.. we need it to stop long enough for us to board the bus to the train station!!
Rain rain go away.. come again another day.. preferably when i am in sapa.. u can rain all u want in hanoi.. deal??
argh.. just bloody stop la!

Hanoi - day 20 to 24
This has to be the most tiring 4 days i have had since i am in Hanoi.. y u ask? entertaining.. it was really fun too i would say..
First cheng yong and his friends, and joanna were in hanoi.. so we went around hanoi together.. had a great time..den we sent joanna off to hue.. esther, the uk(london) intern met up with us for dinner too.i decided to stay over with cheng yong and his frens cos well, i was lazy to travel back and forth from lo duc to hoan kiem.. save money.. spend da whole night chatting with cheng yong's friends.. den sent 2 of his frens off back to kl.. ( felt like hopping into the plane with them too)
Later dat day, we met up with some swedish girls ( emma and maria) that we met at halong bay.. we went to the ethnic museum together.. den had to send to off to hue too.. so sad.. again decided to stay with cheng yong and his frens cos i was lazy to go back to lo duc and come out the next day again..
The next day, i joined cheng yong and his fren to walk all the way to temple of literature from hoan kiem lake .. very very long way.. but we made it :P met up with alvin and esther and yen to send them off to hue.. Den met up with a german guy from nus who spoke mandarin and vietnamese..
The next day, i met up with some frens from netherlands that we met in horrible halong city.. brought them around hanoi, and yogurt shop:) and we watched a movie.. den dinner at hoan kiem.. oo we went to the hoan kiem temple as well.. said goodbye to them at the end of the day as they were flying off to bangkok the next morning.. oo met up with the new intern , Shandy from Phillipines as well.
Mmm i am so sick of sending new found frens off from hanoi.. lucky there is still esther, shandy, alvin, yen, and trang here in hanoi!! it was awesome meeting ppl from all around the world! tiring but i will do it all over again., owh i have been to hoan kiem temple FOUR times to date and temple of literature TWICE.. and frozen yogurt shop a million times tat i am starting to get a lil tired ( read i have really been there too many times!) call me the amateur vietnamese cos i think i can be certified as a tourist guide for hanoi :)

hanoi - day 19
After staying at horrible halong city for a day, we were to go back to hanoi.. but.. alvin's company said that there were no bus to go back that day.. cos there were no tours.. awesome as hell..
so we boarded a local bus back to hanoi..
no aircon, open air, 4 HOURS! but u know wat? it was fun.. really.. it had more leg space than the minibus we took to halong city, and constant blowing wind :P and lots of sight seeing.. interesting! really
So we came back to hanoi and took a taxi to alvin's office.. checked joanna into a backpacker's hotel.. which fyi is so awesome! i wanted to book myself a bed there too.. ahaks.
We had some dinner and visited around hoan kiem area..
Den we headed off for frozen yogurt :P me and joanna.. and i swear she loves it there too. had some interesting flavours like yam and coffee ( yogurt)..
And we ventured down the street and had some seafood (yes in hanoi! not in halong city.. and hanoi is not surrounded by the sea ) it was cheap (not cheated) and nice..
and guess wat?? i had quail eggs with baby quail that is not hatched yet in it.. eww.. i know.. but joanna said dun look and just eat.. and i did.. it was not bad at all.. and now, i have bragging rights !!

halong city - day 1
Let me just shout this out.. i HATE halong city!!
Me. Alvin and Joanna basically stayed another day in halong city to visit a 5 star hotel and its casino for some business matter.. we accompanied alvin at least while having a look at halong city ourselves.. so after alighting from the junk, we headed to the restaurant for lunch.. had interesting conversation with a hong kong couple and the rest of the guest from our junk too.. it was SO hot and the electricity broke half way that basically noone had any appetite to eat..
Headed off to the hotel in a cab not knowing where it was.. The driver told us it will cost 20000 dong.. since we had no idea where it was we tot it was reasonable.. guess wat?? it is not!! it is just walking distance away la celaka.. and bad enough the meter only say 15000 dong but the guy insisted we pay 20000 dong. cheater sia!
The hotel is really cool! its very 'genting'ish where they try to equip the hotel with more facilities and entertainment hence the casino.. the rooms are beautiful!! and as life goes , BLOODY ex! will make enough money one day to let my parents stay there! but really the hotel is expanding damn fast and its really interesting to see.. we visited the casino (first time in casino is in vietnam and not genting.. unique la my 'casino' experience) and the other facilities.. and den we went to find ourselves a guest room..
The cab thing is just a prelude to the shitty stuff we encountered... it got worse after our visit to the hotel.. we checked into this guest house which is well .. not tat spectacular.. our room appear clean ( i think) and the aircon is working (though leaking water) .. but its really expensive! ( 25 USD for dat shitty room!!) after taking some rest, we headed to the beach.. which is not really swim inducing if you get my drift.. but the sea breeze is pretty relaxing if u dun mind da smell.. so after a few hours of just chatting away , 3 of us decided to have dinner.. but guess wat, we dunno enough vietnamese to order ! so we went back to the hotel to get our bible on vietnam trying to figure some stuff out.. we tot tat if we asked the ppl at the front desk they would be able to help us out. asked this woman. she said they have a restaurant at the guest house. we said its ok we wanna try stuff outside.. her face totally changed black and told us.. i dunno i dunno.. bitch~! and as we were heading out, she yelled at us, passport passport..
wat da hell? we asked her for wat. and with her limited english she could not explain.. somethign bout police shit.. we said no. but she would not allow us to leave.. there were 2 guys from netherlands walking in so we asked them if their passports were taken. They said yes, so we decided ok we will pass them our passports provided they return it to us at 9. I was super pissed off.. i mean is this how u speak to customers? what happen to hospitality? no wonder dey will be stuck there forever ! ugh disgusting
again attempting to have some seafood dinner, we ventured outside again. i personally feel like we were entering a sea of vultures waiting to pick on us. so we decided on a place.. they had a menu with chinese translations. so we ordered while asking the price as we go to be save. argh still with such caution still kena tipu. we had a plate of small shrimps not too big not too fresh too i think for 90000 dong.. dats close to 24 ringgit la wat da hell.. and we had this barbequed dried sotong thing dat was so tough joanna couldn't even swallow it down.. really small too..
after the overpriced and underdelivered dinner, we headed to the night market.. the whole night of kena cheated totally dampened my spirit to even look around.. we went into a super market where the price was fixed , and had some forzen yogurt and icecream to calm ourselves down. and den we headed back to get our passports.. and guess wat.. they were late.. and they at first din wanna return our passports until we checked out.. we insisted and paid them so dat we could get our passports back. damn kan jeong and irritating..
den we chilled at some cafe.. feeling just tired.. esp of being cheated.. sien

halong bay - day 1 and 2
I spent the night before halong bay, chiong-ing to compile the student survey for AIESEC until 3 am.. and kan cheong sia itu babi hotmail cannot attach my final results that took me nearly 3 hours into the wee night to get done.. it was 'attaching ' the whole night la.. still cannot attach.. luckily i was saved by gmail! and ntu did take part in the global student survey..
after the close save, i had another heart attack.. due to some miscommunication, i was 10 minutes late to alvin's company to board to bus to halong city.. he told me they were not gonna wait anymore.. can die on the spot la i tell u.. shity luck was still on my side.. n we made it in time..
the bus is has really crampy seats that i had to have my legs folded up for 4 hours.. not tat fun.. view was interesting.. many blooming lotus :) i love!
reached halong city at 12-ish and headed for our junk.. yes yes yes i slept , bathed and ate on a junk.. really exciting.. food was edible but definitely not up to even singapore's standard.. ooo random : me and alvin was there with a taiwanese fren, joanna :)
we den visited the surprise cave which in my private opinion is a very perverted cave.. have lots of 'penis' like structures and 'holes' on the top of the cave.. very dirty minded.. or at least the ppl who interpret it is so. but it was really cool in there and had some amazing structures..
next we went kayaking..the sun was super hot shining on our backs.. and we went kayaking.. crazy rite? faster clap hands!! ahaha me and joanna keep on staying in one spot cos it was cool and shaded:) i wish that they would not simply throw stuff into the sea in halong bay.. cos kayaking with 'i have no idea wat da hell it is' floating around is not exactly a pleasant experience..
Den we went swimming :) Jumped into the green sea and swam like a fish.. thankfully there were no ufo (unidentified floating objects) around.. but one problem .. too MANY junks around.. so it can be pretty dangerous, and u never know wat 'rubbish' can come out from these junks.. still it was relaxing and nice.. the water is clean:) or i am psycho-ing myself into thinkign its clean :P just not very fond of ufos..
Star gazed at night and saw a shooting star!! first time ever le.. made a wish.. hope it comes true! cos my parents will be happier ppl if it happens.. the sky was beautiful.. as good as when i was in stong.. but i prefer stong cos u cannot smell the exhaust from the junks.. its really strong making ur throat get dry and scratchy.. too many junks at one place la hallo! halong is so big, spread up la..
Random : it was also my first time ever eating and seeing fresh passion fruit. SOUR!! but interesting..
we meet lots of awesome ppl on the boat .. we met ppl from sweden and denmark and israel :P tersangat nice.. feel like a real traveller finally.
Cruising around the beautiful bay with interesting conversations is heavenly.. albeit the hellish heat..
Conclusion : you MUST visit halong bay.. but ONCE is enough.. they have to have a more sustainable plan to preserve halong i think..
after the close save, i had another heart attack.. due to some miscommunication, i was 10 minutes late to alvin's company to board to bus to halong city.. he told me they were not gonna wait anymore.. can die on the spot la i tell u.. shity luck was still on my side.. n we made it in time..
the bus is has really crampy seats that i had to have my legs folded up for 4 hours.. not tat fun.. view was interesting.. many blooming lotus :) i love!

hanoi - day 17 & day 18
Yesterday started on a little down note.. i forgot my helmet.. ahahah.. according to yen in vietnam there is 3 things u cannot forget. purse, handphone and HELMET.. lucky she was smart and fast on the bike and we manage to get to the event on time.
The hotel of which the event was to take place was a 5 star hotel.. so it was really interesting.. the event was.. well in vietnamese.. din really understand much but i did catch a thing or two.. n i realised that when there are 'gaps' in between events.. they sing.. in vietnamese.. LOUDLY.. ahahha .. lunch was good.. another thing i realised.. for chinese meals, we serve the food one dish at a time.. but in vietnamese meals all are brought out at the same time.. interesting interesting
After that, being totally random and adventurous, guess where me and yen went? jeng jeng jeng we went to the zoo.. (which was conveniently located opposite the hotel) just imagine two crazy gals in formal wear and heels on my side going around the zoo.. stinky! comment : the zoo wasn't too big but the animals were well fed and .. well fat.. i even saw chunks of meat around.. i guess the tigers there do not feed on grass like in the malaysian zoo.. again tempted by the lake and the swan boats, we decided to go swan boating.. lalala.. it was really nice.. and u could see fishes swimming.. and dead fishes too.. but i swear i wanna go to swan boat at west lake! its 5 times bigger than the one that we went for.. yen den on a total whim brought me for some banana chey :P awesome
Den came my outing with Anh.. she brought me to the temple of literature.. its a BEAUTIFUL place.. like a smaller version of the forbidden city .. some parts at least.. awesome landscaping! and the history very interesting.. i like it there a lot:P too bad no lotus.. oo interesting note : anh told me that they still carve names of the top students from the top universities into those slabs of rocks :) that is really cool. the tradition lives!
We went to some shops but i was really sticky.. and hot.. so wasn't in the mood to try on the clothes.. ahhaha
What did i do today?
I went for a company meeting which was pretty good i think.. :D den trang (not my host) brought me to some shops in hoan kiem lake.. still have not bought anything .. ahahaha .. and tonight alvin is going to bring his taiwan fren for yogurt..oosh and tomorrow!! halong bay!! lalaala

Today is an awesome day :) Y you ask? cos its just awesome.. mr sun and miss rain love us!
Had an outing with Trang ( not my host ) today.. so she picked me up at 4 and wooosh off we went to hoan kiem lake area.. she was going to introduce me to some shops that she likes :P me ever ready to 'shop' of course had a blast of a time. i bought my dad sumthing for father's day but that is all i got.. i swear! ahhaha.. anyway me and trang bargained for it.. and i think we were pretty good at it.. saw so many lil trinkets ! my hands were itching .. but i guess my love for travelling triumphs my love for shopping(omg !! i know!) ooo we had this interesting desert .. its basically coconut jelly.. really interesting.. its real coconut juice just in the form of jelly and guess what?? its still in the coconut shell..ah damn refreshing.. had some chey too.. nice nice nice :)
Note of very very high level of interest. : guess who i bumped into while walking around hoan kiem lake?? cheng yong!! omg i wasn't expecting him till the 23rd la.. imagine hanoi is SO big and i bumped into him with his frens.. they had to go watch the water puppet show so we had to part for the time being..
we den met up with hai yen and alvin to go to this really interesting cafe:) and i tell u it was awesome.. its really rustic.. with multi levels where u can chill.. its at the old quarters near hoan kiem lake so u can tell that its really in an old building.. we went up to the highest floor where the roof were filled with umbrellas :P interestign.. and also all kinds of plants.. really interesting place.. and they had a piano so i get to get rid of some of the lust i had to bang on the piano :)( shity that sounds wrong )
We den met up with a new intern of AIESEC Hanoi from UK, Esther as well as cheng yong and his frens and headed for dinner.. dinner was awesoem as usual when ur in hanoi.. had some interesting conversation.. and we headed to .. where else? the yogurt shop of course.. my favouritest place in hanoi :) ahahah we had a blast trying every flavour on the chart.. really cool :)
ARGH today was an awesome day.. i cannot wait to live more awesome days like this.. of course my stay in hanoi has been pretty awesoem i would say..
Tomorrow there is a networking session with a TN taker and i am going.. lets hope we can get more potential TN contacts :P and i am meeting up with anh tomorrow:) cannot wait! n we will discuss the sapa trip.. lalala .. tomorrow is gonna be an awesome day too!

Hanoi- day 16
So what did i do?? Mainly AIESEC stuff.. My quest of the day was to search for a wifi cafe with plug points. y? Cos i had a meeting with my awesome 'I miss them so much' EB team and also the MCs on skype.. So i went out in the rain with Ritt and Alvin to search for a wifi enabled cafe.. and we found one :) really cool place i would say.. they were playing chinese, mandarin and english songs.. ambience was good really like the cafes we have in kl.. made me feel at home:) so, after an intensive virtual meeting with lots of breakthroughs ( i think) me, Alvin and Ritt headed out for some dinner. We saw this shop dealing with BBQ.. Looked interesting so we decided to try it..
We ordered this set that was 45 thousand dong (IT WAS WRITTEN LA!!) . we ordered portion for one person cos we wanted to try it not knowing wat it contained.. well it had beef, frog and some really tough to chew thingy which we have still not identified.. it may be some tough mushroom or frog's skin or .. ah endless possibilities.. i just hope its not some part of a dog.. dat is da only thing i cannot accept.. guess how much was the bill??? 60 thousand dong la.. damn celaka rite?? da portion was definitely for one.. but she said because there was 3 of us.. wa liao even with price list oso can overcharge foreigners la.. i am really getting tired of this!!
grrr.... two things i think Hanoi can do without
1. the crazy traffic
2. overcharging the tourists and foreigners
i will never go to that shop ever again

Hanoi - day 15
Today is the day... where i do my first brand training.. lalala. its been ages since i have last done a training.. or a session..so today is interesting.. The training was cool i think.. ahhaha that you will have to ask the AIESEC FTU Hanoi members.. i really hope they learned a thing or two.. Their only complain?? i spoke too fast.. ahahha shit.. sorry people.. will have to keep that in mind when i do it for AIESEC Hanoi.. talk slower la carmen
anyhoo.. i had BBQ chicken today for dinner.. i have always wanted to try it since i saw it.. since i have not seen any BBQ chicken in the two countries that i reside in.. ahhaha.. and guess wat.. curiousity kills the cat.. the meal wasn't worth the money.. the chicken was ok.. but KFC and Mac Donalds will totally kick BBQ's ass la.. there is one more shop called lotteria which again i have not seen in both countries that i reside in.. just mebbe i will try it.. but mebbe not..bodoh carmen pergi makan fastfood kat vietnam.. lalala
Tomorrow is another day.. next week i predict is gonna be awesome! and halong bay!! i cannot wait!! cepat cepat!

hanoi - day 14
And so they day started awesomely.. Trang (not my host but from AIESEC hanoi too) fetched me and we rode in the delightful (read sarcasm) sun to a LOTUS farm.. Its really really beautiful there! its surrounded by west lake, and you can see the amusement park from the farm :P and of course in the farm you are surrounded by lotus :) After admiring the beauty of the place and breathing in the fragrant smell of the lotus, me and Trang sat down in this hut in the middle of the farm and had some lotus tea.. very relaxing, with the wind blowing , awesome conversation with Trang ( i realised we are soul mates.. ahaks i am exaggerating as usual but she is really awesome :P- we decided to go to sapa together.. ole ole ole) and the breathtaking view, i really enjoyed myself!!
Next, Trang dropped me off at hoan kiem temple so tat i can meet up with Alvin. We visited the temple while waiting for An. The temple is only so big that you can actually finish viewing it in 10 minutes.. but we spend around an hour at the temple trying to get our money's worth.. ahahha kiasu sia.. had interesting conversation with Alvin talking bout nearly everything under the sun and enjoying the green hoan kiem lake.. (random : i dun understand how come hoan kiem lake is eerily green.. its really really green.. not dirty green but green.. mmm)
We then met up with An, and Alvin ( yes Alvin) suggested that we visit my favourite frozen yogurt shop.. i guess i am not the only one addicted huh.. i finally managed to try the bac ha flavour which is mint as well as the green rice flavour( according to an, green rice is a speciality of hanoi.. dun even have it in ho chi minh la).. nice nice nice .. seriously yummy .. and after quenching our lust for frozen yogurt we had to try ice cream from the shop next door.. and so we did .. the green rice ice cream is awesome!!
After that we had a meeting with the LCP and VP ER of AIESEC FTU Hanoi.. They brought us to this rustic charming little restaurant.. our dinner was really interesting.. of course i forgot the name as usual..its made of corn and rice.. and its gooey with awesome soup.. sumthing like a much stickier version of ur tau fo faa.. i dunno la wat is it called but i like it:P something i wanted to try for sumtime d.. den to continue our discussion.. guess where we went?? The frozen yogurt shop again!! and this time i had peach and bac ha again.. I swear i have tried all the flavours!!ok mebbe i have still one of two left to try..my mission is almost done.. ahahha
So that marks the end of an awesome day.. went back to prepare for my brand training with ftu the next day.. work work work!

Hanoi - day 10
Alvin invited me to lunch with a fren of his from Canada/US. Somehow we came to an agreement that he and is friend is to come to Lo Duc Street so that we could meet up.. where else can i bring them except for my favourite shop! the frozen yogurt shop!! and so we tried all kinds of flavours on the board.. due to the fact that there all three of us could not speak Vietnamese, we ordered our yogurt by pointing randomly on the board! ITS SUPER FUN!! should try it out more.. mm to date .. to add on to my list i have had, coconut, chocolate and corn.. n i had strawberry and durian again.. awesomeness!!

quang ngai - day 3
i truly feel and reinforced on my stand on the importance of world peace and respect amongst all human beings today ( what aiesec envisions - peace and fulfillment of humankind's potential, what soka gakkai envisions - world peace through culture and education ) . Y so random you ask? I visited the Son My massacre site.. It is really a sad place to be .. The american soldiers(infantry) landed in son my and just like that decided to 'kill off' the village.. Very cruelly and brutally i might add. argh.. the things that i read and the pictures i tried to avoid seeing is still etched in my head.. its also nice to read that there were still humane beings out there when the American air troops were against the killings and tried to save the villagers and even considered firing at their own man to stop the inhumane and crazy killings..
Son my should be proud that they have survived the massacre and is now a peaceful, serene and economically independent community.. to those inhumane beings, shame on you..
we also visited a temple today. or as they call it the pagoda.. its really interesting to see the similarities with the ones in Malaysia as well as the differences.. I shall say the most interesting difference is the way the Vietnam ppl honour their dead. There was a grave in the temple of the man that build the 'pagoda' and he originated from China. A real pagoda with beautiful art was built on top of the grave.. outside the temple there was a beautifully landscaped grave of a national hero . and the locals pay their respect constantly .. oo and did you know that ho chi minh's body is frozen and kept in the mausoleum?? as in his real body? i always thought that it was just a monument to remember what he has done for the country.. apparently i was wrong.. its really interesting to see this.. ( random : the 'pagoda' was on top of a hill.. so you could actually see the paddy fields, and corn fields, and the river and the whole awesome view of quang ngai from up there => very nice)
We then drove 2 and a half hours back to Danang.. we stopped on the way for traditional Vietnamese coffee.. super kau!! but surprisingly i din feel jittery after that.. kepelikan.. ( mahmoud if you are reading this, they drink traditional vietnamese coffee with ICE LA!!)
anyhoo.. i am now back in hanoi! work is piling up and reality is starting to strike with the fact that i have to register my subjects d.. shit i found out accounting clashes with my core.. aihz wat elective to take next sem?? headache..
random : frozen yogurt tomorrow la!!

Quang Ngai - day 2
We had lobsters again today!! And it was really awesome.. The meat is so sweet and chewy.. argh can die.. I swear upon the square neon pink moon that you have NOT eaten seafood until you have eaten seafood in the beach in the middle of Vietnam. We visited Quang Ngai town today and went to the market. There is like a million things to see la.. very interesting.
oo.. and i finally went in the sea today after the bloody visit that mother nature has imposed on all females in the world has ceased. and it was really cool..Its like a huge swimming pool with waves ( crappy.. that IS the sea. nothing too poetic bout TAT)somehow its not as beautiful as redang or lang tengah or perhentian but it has its charm. I bet my mum will love it here man..
Random : I have received really nice compliments from the locals here in Vietnam bout my height.. apparently they dun think that my height is freakish.. They say that i look like model/actress la.. Waliao eh can fly la!Some random guy even wanted to take a picture with me.. creepy but damn flattering.. In the land where i have always felt like an overgrown clod, its nice to feel 'pretty' tall. Gam En ( Thank you) Vietnamese ppl for making me feel pretty without taking into consideration my alien-ish height.. ( ahaks emo sial)
Anyhoo- Hanoi tomorrow! and i cannot wait.. i miss my frozen yogurt.. i think i want to try mint!
PS : I know i sound like a travelling ceeder rather than a workin one according to Alvin.. I promise the ancient AIESEC Gods ( ok this is not brand aligned.. disclaimer ah) that i will work my butt off in the next 3 to 4 weeks.. of course i am dying to go to halong bay.. Anyone??

Quang Ngai - day 1
Trang had to leave for Hanoi today :( as there is no flight back to Hanoi on Sunday and she cannot skip another Jap class ( YES she is Jap literate.. cool rite?) I decided to stay on with her family to visit Quang Ngai. According to Trang it has a even awesomer beach than Danang. That alone is enough to make me stay on. On the way to the airport we stopped by at the local market.. I loved being at the local market cos you can get a glimpse of local life.. I like :) After sending Trang off, we drove TWO and A HALF HOURS to Quang Ngai. But really its cool cos we passsed by many villages and the things to see is endless that i couldn't sleep.. Read : Carmen cannot sleep.. that alone is enough to justify how awesome the view was.. Example of awesomeness : We were stuck in a traffic jam behind a herd of cows.. You will never experience that in KL or Singapore la!! I saw farmers using all kinds of traditional tools to farm.
So after we reached Quang Ngai, we went down to serious business! FOOD!! Its seriously crazy la! we had KING CRABS!! Not only does it have the furry thingy to justify its kingliness its HUMONGOUS!! super besar celaka babi! Its like the babi of all crabs la.. Food was awesome as usual but in abundance as usual as well. Random note : had a humongous lunch as well .. Had this kinda abalonish shellfish and loads of other stuff. ( There goes my diet man.. 000 random note 2 : I think Danang and Quang Ngai is making me start to actually like seafood.. horrors)
So we ate till the sun set and the moon shines upon the ocean ( that was trully a beautiful sight) oo as for the beach, i kinda prefer Danang as its cleaner (less rubbish that is) but that is just my first impression. Let me try it out and will comment boutit agian tomorrow.. I shall now continue to pay attention to Minh about the history of Vietnam.. he is teaching me Vietnamese too.. lalala

Danang - day 2 and a half
The plan today was to visit the mountains.. Specifically bana.. So me and Trang tumpang-ed ppl's bus to Bana which was roughly 30 minutes away from Danang. Took a cabel car to the mountains ( which in my opinion was pretty ex.. but according to Trang its a new thing in Vietnam so the money is justified.. mm telan je la.. ) The mountains i swear is super beautifully AWESOME!! It's like a less developed , more natural, more rustic, colder and windier version of Genting.. Argh i am missing it already.. There was ONE and only ONE resort with rather beautiful lansdcaping and a temple.. That is IT! for now.. The view from up there combined with the chiiling wind is honestly breathe taking.. A place you MUST visit if you go to Danang. They are actually developing the area and I'm praying real hard to the purple monkeys that it will turn out more Cameron than Genting.. According to Trang, the French found out about the awesome mountains and the awesome weather up there and built some villas. Would love to catch a glimpse of the ancient villas .. Too bad the bus of ppl we tumpang-ed had to return to Danang for lunch. So we were only up there for a grand total of ONE hour. CELAKA.. but i would say that i am fortunate enough to be able to have been up there before..i super LOVE that place a lot, a lot , times one thousand hundred million times. Had a mild heart attack again when the guard at the cabel station won't allow us to leave with our party due to overload. And the next 'thingy(for the lack of words)' down is 90 minutes away.. Celaka babi how to balik to Danang la?? flying pigs?(random note : i seriously dunno how come there are 'shifts' for the cabel to run.. i tot it should be running continuously? one go up and one go down.. mebbe i am just too used to Gentings) lucky that Trang had amazing negotiation skills like her mum that we managed to sneak our way in.. fooosh..
Later in the evening it was the beach again.. its really a crazy weird real natural scientific -ish phenomena that the sea is crystal clear blue in the the afternoon but a kind of dirty green in the evening.. Ish identity crisis la this Danang beach nie.. ish ish.. but seriously its an awesome beach to give it justice (pics on facebook). not as awesome as the pulaus in the north east of semenanjung malaysia but i guess its rather a good compensation for me not bing able to visit the islands this year.
Lepaked at the beach at night. I love the beach at night!! makes it really intriguing and mysterious. Argh i love the beach!
Conclusion of the day.. love the beach love the mountains.. I am in heaven!! jangan jealous!

Danang - day 1 and a 1/2
Woke up at the crack of dawn ( and i seriously mean crack, not a hole , a tear ,etc.. its the CRACK of dawn) --> translation --> uber babi early and prepared to go to My Son (ancient sites of Hindu inspired temples) Took an hour drive from Danang beach to get there.
I could see many a interesting sight as we passed by the smaller villages and you can catch a glimpse of life at the countryside. Saw some lakes with blooming lotus, passed by a funeral, saw cows ploughing the paddy fields, saw a village celebration and much more that is beyond word-ly description.
As for My Son, It was really interesting as you get to see all kinds of interesting structures, The most interesting thing for me is that 70% of its Buddha statues are headless.. Makes you wonder where in the world did the heads go? Did a very strong dog bit it off, or that they put in a steel rod into the heads when sculpting so that when lightning strikes,it strikes the head? Or its just the entrepeneurial spirit where they knock it off to sell and gain profit ( economics 101) I am betting a thousand million percent on human nature ! wanna take a bet??
We then headed back to the beach for lunch. ( Note : There is no mentioning about shopping here.. y? cos i didn't la!! FASTER CLAP HANDS!!)
Lunch was as interesting as a AVRIL concert i tell you.. We had LOBSTER.. Celaka its damn big la..
And what they do? They first 'MILK' it (Note : they drink the 'milk' Trang's father offered me some but no way in the land of flying blue neon blinking pigs will i drink it la) They then had sashimi lobster( which was by the way decorated VERY nicely-- pictures on facebook:P) The hotpot lobster ( steamboat in Singapore and Malaysian terms) super uber duper babi interesting la..
ooo later there is nothing else to do but to chill at the beach.. so windy so relaxing!! ARGH!

Danang - day 1/2
We arrived at awesome awesome Danang yesterday around 4. The view of Danang from the plane?? Heaven!!
But before we approached heaven, I nearly had a heart attack and went to the 'real' heaven.. Minh, my host brother wasn't allowed on board initially due to the lack of identification until the very very last minute( so last minute that i tot the plane is going to leave us!) I nearly died of anxiety la thinking we had to head back to Hanoi and miss the flight. Thank my lucky stars, moons, pigs, monkeys and whatever lucky beings that my host mother has awesome negotiation skills. We were allowed on board.. fooooish.. sigh of relief sial..
And off we flew to beautiful danang. We headed to the beach the moment we could relieve ourselves of our luggage.. the beach is nice. loooooong, blue with white sand. rather crowded though. There were vendors EVERYWHERE and you could just about get anything .
Had a humongous seafood dinner which was delicioud with a capital D. And that awesome meal was the end of day 1/2..

2. Watermelons here are longish and not roundish
3. Oranges here are GREEN
4. The fishes sold in the market are so fresh that they are still swimming around.
5. Motor-ing on a rainy day is scary esp if you have even a speck of white on you.
Had my first company meeting today! And the first thing that occured to me was ---> awesome my first company meeting EVER is going to be in VIETNAMESE.. WTH! baguslah.. good game.
Luckily for me , Vinh ( the other AIESECer that I went with ) directed and translated some questions to me and I had a chance to speak. The outcome of the meeting was pretty good. They were interested in taking 4 interns, willing to sponsor aiesec hanoi room for trainings and were interested in being our partner! AWESOMENESS!! Go figure !
YAY my first company meeting - i declare a success.. i shall take it as a good omen for my future company meetings to come =p

hanoi - day 6
update : I AM GOING TO TAIWAN!! decided d!!
Today was LC meeting for AIESEC Hanoi.. really cool meeting the AIESECers.. the meeting was held in the new part of town.. so its interesting to see it.. but la.. i dun like dat area.. its dusty, full of sky scrapers and just too city-ish for my liking..
Random facts that i have realised :
1. Vietnam gals are damn slim!! i have not seen a single plump gal in my whole 6 days here. The fattest? Me! ( i am a thousand million percent serious - no plump person.. not even one.. and a million times more jealous..ish ish)
2. Ppl think that i am Vietnamese.. so if i dun open my mouth and smile demurely , i can cheat ppl into thinking i am from Vietnam.. sin chao :P
3. The traffic here is seriously crazy.. all the things ppl have said? there is no exaggeration.. its true.. its crazy!
4. When you smile to someone in Vietnam ( someone in this context means a random person you dunno) they smile BACK!!! eh so long d din have this feeling la.. in kl sometimes ( and very rarely) ppl smile back at you.. In singapore ?? they look at you like you are crazy.. even the auntie that you are buying food from.. I love vietnam :P
5. ALL vietnamese gals can cook:P ( ok mebbe a lil of an exaggeration) And they cook well i think!
6. The vietnamese gals i have met?? Love their brother a lot.. its like their brother is like their son more than their brother.. i mean i love mine but not like they do .. bagus bagus
7. The food here costs nearly the same like Malaysia, KL.. so its not TAT cheap after all..
8. I know got more wan.. i had tons in my head when i was on my way home on the bike.. ish ish mana pergi my random tots????
I am super undecided bout a lot of stuff now.. y? cos of money.. aihz itu babi air tickets to taiwan meningkat in price.. should i still go??? mebbe i should skip it and go another time?
danang trip and halong bay trip coming - its gonna make me super broke..
macam mana macam mana???
money pig help!! safe me from this!

Hanoi - day 5
Today is a Saturday.. meaning its a weekend!!
So today the plan was to visit bat trang ceramic village.. Yen ( super pretty aiesecer from aiesec hanoi ) picked me up to meet with alvin and tien ( aiesecer from aiesec ftu hanoi)..
So after picking up some snacks ( and french bread for me- YUMMY!!) we walked to the luong bien bus stop to board da bus.. amazingly on the bus, we meet a group of chinese students studying in Vietnam ( ooo did i mention Yen and Tien could speak in Mandarin??).. They were surprised that our group could speak in mandarin ( I super felt like a banana today in VIETNAM!! wat da hell.. lai carmen lai carmen.. mmg takleh buat apa- apa dah..) Anyhoo.. the group of chinese students were really cool and we visited bat trang village together :)
We tried our hands at some pottery which i had zero talent in .. the thingy that i was trying to make either went flat ( y do i need a flat thingy for?? cannot even put ash la..) or had the shape of the the thing dat comes out of us when we defecate.. really interesting experience.. but to a certain extent , narrowed down my future career prospects.. ahaha i guess i cannot make my millions out of pottery eh to fund my sia 1st class flight ticketS :P Den we went shopping ( my uber favourite part) .. my mum must be wondering .. apa lagi dia beli budak nie.. ahahha i got 2 teasets for 80000 dong ( dats less den 10 ringgit per set), some necklaces and keychains for 10000 dong each(RM 2.40) for souvenirs.. really cheap like celaka la.. super happy with my purchases.. happy :) sense of success and achievement sia. ahahha.. i think i am done with souvenirs for now.. so ppl thats what u are getting..ahaha
Random thoughts : the scenery on the way to the village from the bus was breathtaking.. memang cantik celaka babi.. seriously there were lakes, and paddy fields, and ducks swimming in the pond.. houses were interesting cos they come in all shapes and designs.. sometimes i think hanoi is like a patchwork .. everything is different.. eventhough the houses are in the same row.. they are so different from each other.. you will NEVER run out of things to see in hanoi..
So after we return to town from Bat Trang, we bid goodbye to our newfound Chinese frens and walked to Hoan Kiem Lake for FOOD!! i saw some corn by a street hawker and couldnt resist.. in the process all four of us stopped to have some traditional( i think) Vietnamese drinks. me and alvin and yen had this lotus seed drink with cincau and white gummy sago with the coconut in it( i like !! a lot).. Tien had some drink dat tasted like ginger ale with lime.. also nice.. Den we proceeded to have dinner.. Dinner was good- it was some kinda noodle( the one i had with Trang dat day for breakfast) but the soup is different.. a lil sourish a lil spicy.. but SEDAP :0
After dinner we wanted to walk at the night market( again i know:P) however we saw the water puppet place.. and we managed to convince each other that its high time we went for the must- see-if-you-visit-hanoi famous water puppet..ahahha damn kiasu la us.. takut tak sempat watch before we leave hanoi..( me and alvin that is)- mati mati wanna watch today.. but i tell you there is a reason why its a must see!! cos its really really awesome.. no shit man.. its music was beautiful, story line interesting and funny , puppets were really nicely made and hallo its on water ok.. mana nak cari?? u tell me.. ppl actually in the water performing for u to see.. very colourful performance.. both me and alvin were entranced.. it was truly magical i tell u..
(random thoughts again : i realised that i have NOT seen the wayang kulit before.. in fact nak tengok kat mana pun i tak tau.. paiseh sia)
So after the water puppet show.. we went along the night market.. and we ate. ahahah .. we had passion fruit sugar cane drink ( i know i know.. passion fruit flavoured fresh sugar cane .. interesitng rite!!) and we also had fried sosej .. Alvin den spotted this random drink. its really interesting .. Let me describe it for you.. it was gooey like glue, and some part of it is white like milk.. ( i think my description can make u cringe in fear) but it was really really really really good!! ( or at least we liked it a lot! ) it had all kinds of jelly and corn and red beans in it.. really gummy and jelly-ish. and its topped by gooey (really sticky sticky wan lo) milk(?)(i am guessing cos its whitish).. but the effect? sedap!! yen said she will bring me around hanoi to try various versions of this dessert and i cannot wait! i guess i like my goo ~~ ooo den yen and tien (eh it rhymes) treated me and alvin to some awesome dessert - caramel pudding(cold , smooth and have some coffee taste- argh heavenly) and get this.. yogurt black lo mai( itu pulut hitam tong sui tau?den they added yogurt :P)
ok dat was the end of my gastronomic experience today..
Tomorrow - LC HANOI MEETING!! got training wei.. damn exciting.. and i cannot wait to see everyone from AIESEC LC HANOI!!
oo i kena bangun at 7 tomorrow.. nites

Tomorrow - LC HANOI MEETING!! got training wei.. damn exciting.. and i cannot wait to see everyone from AIESEC LC HANOI!!
oo i kena bangun at 7 tomorrow.. nites

hanoi - day 3
Today started quite late again i would say.. around 11? ahahha.. me and trang were chatting into the wee hours of the nite the day before :)
So, Trang suggested that we have STREET FOOD for breakfast!! omg omg !! my eyes opened wide and my heart started beating! of cos i wanted street food.. so we went on foot for food!! ( oh my that sounds poetic).. we had some kinda noodles which was eaten with some kinda vege and meat and pickled garlics and lime.. nice :) den we walked around.. me who cannot resist shopping went into some clothing shops.. too bad its a tit too expensive for my liking.. so i have decided to continue my shopping spree in kl.. ahhaha .. oo i had a manicure. so my nails now looks super nice :) 40000 dong.. a lil pricey i think. but nice and once in a lifetime thing?ahhaa
den we visited trang's grandmother.. she is 82 and still looking strong.. she is like the epitome of the vietnamese lady. Dignified, ladylike, graceful.. she was smiling all the time.. she was surprised that i came to Hanoi alone.. i wanted to take a picture with her but she refused cos she said she wasn't feeling well.. no worries i will have another chance.. i will be here for another 6 weeks :) somehow, i really enjoyed visiting Trang's grandmother.. oo did i mentioned dat she used to work with HO CHI MINH!! career woman of the olden days la.. She reminded me of my maternal grandmother who i din not have the good fortune to be with for too long.. She held my hand and asked me to enjoy my trip in Vietnam.. i wanted to hug her.. somehow she evoked this sense of longing for grandparental love.. too bad my grandparents are all in a better world..
After that, we continued our quest for food.. or rather I continued it.. Trang was basically accomodating my whims and craving.. ahahha.. so da next thing we had was FROZEN YOGURT.. sedap gila babi seriously.. so so so so so so so so nice and cheap.. 3000 dong per cup.. less than a ringgit ok.. and i had this caramel pudding too.. also 3000 dong per serving.. ah.. blissfully heavenly good! Den we had this drink, made of beans.. Trang had the one with black beans while i had the one with green beans.. i prefered Trang's cos it had this sago-ish thingy with coconut inside.. NICE~ however, i was a lil surprised at the price.. it was 20000 dong for the two cups.. Trand said its normally around 3000-8000 dong.. i guess the lady figured out tat i was a foreigner.. takpa takpa.. i have just contributed to the vietnam cottage industy.. Den i had the french bread that i was craving for.. 10000 dong.. sedap la.. seriously.. but da bread a LIL keras.. i was expecting it to be a little softer.. nemind i will try something else another time.. Next i had a second serving of frozen yogurt!!ahahha
oo trang also brought me to the only cinema in hanoi that plays movie in their original languange.. it was in a shopping centre.. so of course i went there with high intentions to shop.. guess wat?? i nearly pengsan-ed when i saw the prices!! sangat teramat mahal! aihz..
Tonight, there was a gathering of both AIESEC in hanoi and AIESEC in FTU to welcome .. well us. me and alvin.. really really cool!!
I love AIESECers! they are so energetic and positive and its the same everywhere!!we had dinner together and it was NICE.. first we had this popiah thingy..it was basically rice sheets (macam chee cheong fun) wrapped around beef and some herbs..very very nice.. dip it in the sauce( a little lime, young papaya, and fish sauce) and ur makaning sumthing that brings you closer to heaven.. next was this bbq-ed goose .. nice but a lil oily.. it came with this shrimp sauce.. apparently there is a way to check whether the sauce is fresh.. u add lime and see whether the sauce lightens in colour.. ahahha and u ony know that when u are with locals :) Den came my favourite!! DEEP FRIED SWEET CORN!!!!! AHHHHHH !! heavenly sedap!! damn damn damn damn damn damn damn damn damn damn nice!! the corn was sweet and crispy.. i suka.. sideline story, the aiesecers from vietnam decided to have a competition with the angmos to eat the corn with chopsticks.. super funny la i tell u.. da punishment? the two losers had to kiss each other and THEY DID!! ahahaha gossip gossip :) da last dish was the famous 'pho' in a different way of cooking according to trang.. nice with lots of veggie.. den we motorbiked our way to a cafe beside westlake( my favourite lake ever) to chill and have a drink(lipton tea for me.. hahaha)
Den i spent the rest of the night playing games and learning how to play chess from my host's brother Minh.. This lil guy is funny , obedient, helpful and sunny.. its been a long time since i saw a kid i liked.. and Minh? i really like.. i have a date to play hangman with him tomorrow :)
Tat concludes day 3 :) work work..

hanoi - day 2
So i dah tidur one night kat sini dah.. officially half org hanoi d :) ahaha..
And so today started rather late for me.. i tidur like a babi until around 11 plus in the morning.( which is 12 pm in Malaysia and Singapore).. and guess wat?? my host's younger brother Minh( 11 years old) made me my breakfast! so sweet and a lil paiseh on my part honestly.. ( jonny boy are u reading this??)
And so yada yada yada( err nothing interesting.. sleep, online, stoning ), den Trang decided to bring me around hanoi part 2..
she first brought me to the Ho Chi Minh mausoleum.. i tell u, the landscaping there is damn damn damn damn one thousand million times cantik la!! damn nice! went around the museum( though not for long cos it was closing).. i would say that every element of ho chi minh's life was documented really nicely to the T. they even have the baju he wore to disguise himself and the house he was born in.. Really a must go if you are a history buff.. or just love beautiful scenery.. cos the mausoleum?? damn cantik la.. dari atas ke bawah, tepi ke belakang, you see will see many a place that you would love to photograph.. me who super love to take pics of myself took tons of pics without myself in it.. that should explain how awesome it is!
Next, Trang brought me to West Lake.. I swear I would kill to be able to live at that neighbourhood.. da villas and houses there damn cantik.. and the wind.. wooooosh super nice the wind.. and the view~~ Enough said.. i actually kinda prefer west lake to hoan kiam lake .. its really huge.. you can see ppl fishing and just chilling beside the lake.. talking bout fishing.. i saw first time in my life a person actually catching a fish!! so exciting sia! and also you can go kayaking or pedalling there!! I nak pergi! this time tak sempat sure got next time..
Trang was also kind enough to bring me see a lake full of lotus :) not bloomed yet.. but still nice!
Ah Hanoi is really picturesque.. everywhere u go sure feel like taking photos to capture the beauty of it!
oo i had this kebab bread thingy which i have been craving since i nampak-ed it on my first day.. its good but they had the skin of the babi in it.. so din really like it dat much.. i wanna makan itu french bread my mentor told me about.. and go for full body massage .. and SHOP!! ( saw more shops today.. needless to say i am uber tempted!)
tomorrow tomorrow.. buat apa ya?
pergi gathering for aiesecers in hanoi!! tak sabar menanti! and can see fellow malaysian alvin too.. boleh merendahkan nilai homesickness i nie.. ( yes i am homesick.. a little..intsy teeny bit)
PS PS :i know i know i did ambik pictures.. i will upload them soon.. real soon..

omg hanoi!!!
And so today marks the beautiful first day of my ceedership in Hanoi.. The plane flight was terrible judging from its not adjustable seats and really crampy leg space.. but i guess that is what you get when you travel budget.. I VOW to go for SIA first class next time when i travel.. so money making machine WILL materialise.. ( ok i am running very very far away from the main topic.. HANOI!!)
And so I was picked up by a fellow AIESECer Linh at the airport..(she is the classic vietnamese beauty, soft spoken , beautiful long hair, slim ( super JEALOUS LA!!), nice smile, perfect wife material :)) And we took a bus to town.. Mana tau celaka half way the bus broke down.. So we decided to walk .. and by walking i mean walking with all my luggage .. Just imagine yah KLites and Singaporean-lites, walking with my trolley luggage AGAINST traffic on a road FULL of motorcyclist flying around in the middle of the road.. yah that is wat i did just now.. TAKUT SIA!! but i put on a cool face and just followed Linh.. she was my guiding star.. ahhaha.. and i am proud to say WE MADE IT!! woooooosh.. bangga celaka babi la!
And den my awesome host picked us up from a junction.. I had my first motorbike ride in ages today! it was really really cool.. but i will have to admit, i did close my eyes banyak kali during the ride.. Trang was a whiz on the road, super super good but i guess i am not used to it yet.. ahhaha( Random : here they drive on the left side.. some cars at least.. first time nampak sia.. ahhaa)
Trang's house??? super uber cantik gila babi!! seriously, its on the 22nd floor overlooking Hanoi city, can see lakes can see the red river can see banyak banyak stuff.. really nice view~ and da decor?? macam hotel sia.. or at the very least macam itu show house.. NICE!!
Trang made lunch and it was really nice.. home cooked meal ok..i damn freaking lucky la.. and den i kong (tidur like a babi for 4 hours).
Just now, Trang brought me on her motor to Hoan Kiem lake.. at night the place was really cool.. the wind was blowing away.. (wind in the hair effect sia) Walked around the lake while Trang showed me certain historical and worth looking 'stuff'( for the lack of better words) Really cool! and of course i saw MANY potential shops to SHOP!! ( you knew the S word was gonna come up sooner of later rite??) And den we had Vietnamese ICE-CREAM that according to Trang is the most traditionally made ice-cream and supposedly the best in Hanoi.. it was yummylicious of course.. Trang said that Vietnamese that leaves the country will always relate the ice-cream to home. That is like how Malaysians relate our maggie goreng , roti canai or char kueh teow to home.. mmm writing bout this is making me hungry..
Anyway that concludes my awesome first day. Yes i did take pics and no I cannot put it up here.. Y?? cos itu celaka babi lappie of mine is not cooperating at all.. slaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaap its face la.. ish i want to go online using my lappie!!! babi celaka sial la ..
Anyhoo.. i nak tidur dah.. according to hanoi time its 11.39 pm .. means its 12.39 am in malaysia and singapore.. plus the horrible seats in air asia and the tak tidurness the nights before .. and adding on the walk when the bus broke down.. i am exhausted.. nites tidur la..

fun fun fun..
And so mei mei ngan su yun came to kl to shop. The S word totally a hundred million percent explains the 3 words in the title. enough said..
however contradictory to my nature ( super pro shopper), the fun did not solely come from the shopping.. it came from spending time with them!! i damn rindu them la.. nasib baik when i was in singapore i sempat catch up with shi yah.. and balik kl catch up with mei mei and su yun.. i am satisfied for now .. ahahha
and so in less than 30 hours, i will be boarding the flight to Hanoi.. My feelings ? 80% excited, 5% apprehensive. 15% malas to pack ( ish i hate to pack and i think within this year , i have packed more times that i have in my past 20 years!!)

i surprised ppl today..
So.. my mum has been complaining that my skin has worsen a thousand million times since i started my academic year in NTU. And she has been complaining A LOT!
I guess it is rather bad as she has been urging me to go for facials EVERY single time i am in KL.. And so today I went for one... Apparently its SUPER SUPER weird to have only cleanser on my 'face' routine.. The eyes of the gals attending to my poor face basically popped out when i told them i only wash my face and nothing else.. And they started nagging me on how important it is to take care of our skin and lalalala.....
AIYO SO MAFAN LA!!!
i told my mum i wanna age gracefully, she told me to grow up!! ahahha..
And so we went to the pharmacy and got me the whole 'mafan' set of skincare..
Y can't i have eggshell smooth skin like some of the lucky gals out there?? Then maybe i can save all the 'mafanness' and just shop?? ok random..
Lets just see how long i will stick to the mafan regime..
I guess i better if i want to look my age and not 10 million years older :(
I am super sure the old old ancient ppl dun have all these mumbo jumbo stuff to use on their face rite?? Y now?? (according to marketing 101 and economics 101, because there is a market for it :( Aiyo women lets just all age gracefully and save the mafanness!!)

7 days of back to back transition and planning has definitely taken a toll on my mental capability.. i was stoning towards the end of the day everyday.. however i would conclude this really intense 2 weeks with one word.. AWESOME!!
I took back a lot from the sessions! cannot wait to implement all that i have learned to my life in general and of cos when my term as VP Comms officially starts. The learning curve was super steep i would say.. exponentially so..I KNOW that this one year is going to change my life especially the way i do things. I want to be more efficient and bring out my potential!
For now, its fashion show at vivo later .. and den lepak with my fellow malaysians in ntu tomorrow.. den sunday.. HOME!!!!!

AIESEC week :P
WARNING : Heavy AIESEC talk ahead.. and some really inspiring stuff i learned :)
This week has really been a full fledged AIESEC week :P
It has been a really intense and long week! but it has still not ended..
there are still 3 days to go for national transition and planning and 2 more days for LC planning..
LC TRANSITION
So last saturday and sunday was the LC transition. It was TRULY intense i tell you.. no joke.. but it was fun too :P and an awesome learning experience.. we went back to the basics about the AIESEC way, understanding and internalizing the information. Then we discussed the various strategies taken to achieve what we envision. That of course includes the AIESEC 2010 and the 'god' created Balance Scorecard!! kepala pusing pusing a bit.. but really it was cool learning about all these stuff and seeing the relevance to what we are doing.
My favourite quote from that session :
' Act don't react!'
I am generally a person who reacts.. probably stems from the fact that i am Malaysian.. i need to improve on my 'act' so that i do not only 'react' all the time.. hence according to rachel and yun zhou.. planning is bloody important.. AND tracking !!
Session with AP director Li Zhen
On wednesday there was a session with Li Zhen, AP director from AIESEC International which was really really cool where he shared with us how to relate our operations to the AIESEC way.It was eye opening to see how every function has a clear relation to the AIESEC way. I would say its all back to basics..
The quote i got out of this session " Promise what we can deliver, Deliver what we promise" This is truly important to allow the setting of the right expectations, and for us to fulfill the expectations! That is demonstrating integrity for you!
Randomness melanda when we decided to bring Li Zhen to the science centre. (we -> the EB team minus the guys and Zhou Qin)
What we did?
-camwhore
-enjoyed science
- got dizzy in the amphitheatre with sea monsters
-enjoyed science again
- took some 'masculine' pictures for Yun Zhou
PS : LOVE THE EB TEAM LA!!
Departmental transition
Next up was transition with Rachel my awesome awesome AWESOME boss!!
It was really concised and gave me a clearer picture of my role as VP comms for my term.
Discussed on various matters that i have always wanted to know more about. Rachel is awesome! love my boss sia!
Then we had duck rice which was really good.. seriously(coming from me who NEVER say anything good about the food in singapore, it is really good!!)
And my awesome boss accompanied me to get the 'guy' watch that i have always wanted!(ok not ALWAYS la.. only since my penang trip.. lalala)
AIESEC Youth Symposium
The AYS was held on Friday (yesterday) with really good speakers. They basically spoke about the trends observed of the Gen Y (us youth) and also about the current economic crisis and how we as youth can work our way through it and even 'capitalize' on it..
My take backs from the event?
I shall put it down in quotes, but seriously i definitely got more than just the quotes..it was thought provoking..
' Be passionate about what you are doing!'
'Look for opportunities in every difficulty'
'The only constant thing in life is change'
'The importance of networking'
'Develop good values'
'Work well with ppl you don't like'
Mentoring/coffee session with my mentor Imran
I really enjoyed this session with my mentor! I am normally rather sceptical about motivational stuff cos i feel that they are too far away from me and a little too idealistic sometimes. But Imran managed to make the things he said sound so logical and doable enabling me to relate it to myself and what i do. He gave me some sales tips too for my ceedership in Hanoi.. Really cool:P
My take backs in quotes
'Motion creates emorion'
'Emotion is also affected by your focus. change your focus, you change your emotion'
First day of national planning
Totally reinforced my knowledge in performance management.. ahaha this time i was really paying attention.. (yun zhou better be proud of me man).. got to know the EBs from NUS and some from SMU.. and got this from mayas
'Focus on developing others, and our learning will come in the process'
'Take responsibility in own learning and be proactive'
'Love your job(inspire yourseld) and make others love theirs(inspire others)'
And that is what i have been up to this 2 weeks.. intense rite??? ahha but loving every second of it:P LOVE WHAT I AM DOING LA!!
